Veteran Employment Success Stories

Every month the Office of Veteran Employment Services (OVES) will be sharing stories of individuals that have successfully found careers through our services. Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Representative (DVOP) provide the intensive services necessary to meet the employment needs of Veterans who are economically or educationally disadvantaged, disabled, homeless, or facing other significant barriers to employment. September 2022

  • A low-income veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, job leads, and direct job referrals. The veteran was hired as a Production Supervisor with a starting salary of $50,000.00 per year.
  • A low-income and unemployed veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services, where they received resume development, job leads and referral to partner services. The veteran interviewed and was hired as a Retailer, with a starting pay of $15.00 per hour.
  • A veteran at risk of becoming homeless received resume development, housing, and outside partner resources, along with job leads and interviewing assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services staff. The veteran was hired as a Parts Assembler with a starting wage of $19.00 per hour.
  • A homeless veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services staff who provided resume development, job leads, and assistance with housing referrals and partner resources. The veteran was hired as an Electrical Systems Specialist with a starting wage of $49,000.00 per year.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran received resume development, job leads, interviewing assistance, and direct job referrals from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was hired as a Labor Inspector with a starting pay of $63,400.00 per year.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services who provided the veteran resume development, job leads and interviewing assistance. The veteran was hired as a Warehouse Worker with a starting wage of $17.95 per hour.
  • A low-income and unemployed veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, job leads, and interviewing assistance. The veteran was hired as an IT Desktop Support Specialist with a starting pay of $49,920.00 per hour.
  • A veteran at risk of becoming homeless was guided throughout the employment planning process via the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received referrals to partner staff, and housing assistance. The veteran also received resume development and job leads that led the veteran to gain employment as a Material Handler with a starting salary of $37,440.00 per year.
  • A low-income veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received direct job leads, resume updating, and interviewing assistance. The veteran was hired as a Security Guard with a starting pay of $15.75 per hour.
  • A Vietnam Era veteran, worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, and direct job leads. The veteran was hired as a Bus Driver with a starting wage of $16.00 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, interviewing assistance, and referral to partner services. The veteran was hired as a Shift Manager with a starting salary of $32.00 per hour.

  • A service-connected disabled and unemployed veteran was provided workforce assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, partner and community referrals, and direct job leads. The veteran was hired as a Car Wash Installer Supervisor with a starting wage of $30.00 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services who received resume development and direct job development. The veteran was hired into a manufacturing role with a starting pay of $19.00 per hour with a $2,000.00 sign-on bonus.

  • A justice-involved veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services who provided the veteran with resume development, referral to partner agencies and resources, as well as job leads. The veteran was hired as a Warehouse Operator with a starting wage of $15.00 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran was guided through employment preparation pipeline by the Office of Veteran Employment Services who provided the veteran with resume development, housing referrals, and other supportive services. The veteran was hired as a Crematory Director with a starting wage of $44,000.00 per year.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services where the veteran received resume development, job leads, and referral to partner services which led to the veteran gaining employment in a retail position with a starting wage of $18.50 per hour.

The veteran received a comprehensive assessment, job referrals, resume development, and other supportive service referrals. The veteran accepted an offer as Community Health Nurse earning $28.91 per hour.
