Veteran Outreach and Success Stories

Every month the Office of Veteran Employment Services (OVES) will be sharing stories of individuals that have successfully found careers through our services. Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Representative (DVOP) provide the intensive services necessary to meet the employment needs of Veterans who are economically or educationally disadvantaged, disabled, homeless, or facing other significant barriers to employment. Success Stories

October 2022

  • A veteran at risk of becoming homeless was provided services by the Office of Veteran Employment Services where they received resume development, comprehensive assessment, and individual employment with job referrals. The veteran was hired as Driver earning $47,000.00 annually.
  • A veteran at risk of becoming homeless was provided career services by the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was given partner referrals, resume development and job leads that led to the veteran overcoming homelessness and accepting a fulltime job offer as a Cook with a starting salary of $30,000.00 annually.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with Office of Veteran Employment Services who provided resume assistance, job development, career planning, interview practices and direct referrals. The veteran was hired as an Order Selector, earning $17.00 hourly.
  • A low-income veteran received assistances from the staff in the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, interviewing assistance, and job leads leading to the veteran obtaining employment as a Laser Printer with a starting salary of $47,840.00 a year.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran, worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services who provided the veteran resume assistance, partner referrals, job leads and was hired as a Quality Assurance Technician with a starting wage of $24.00 per hour.
  • A veteran unemployed for more than 27 weeks, worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services that provided resume development, job leads, career coaching, and interviewing assistance. The veteran was hired as a Quality Assurance Engineer, with a starting pay of $66,560.00 per year.
  • A transitioning service member received career assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services where the staff provided resume development, partner agency referrals, and mock interviews. The veteran was hired into a Manufacturing position with a starting wage of $23.00 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services to receive resume development, job leads, interviewing skills, and partner referrals. The veteran was hired as a Production Associate with a starting wage of $22.50 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled and low-income veteran was provided many career services from the Office of Veteran Employment Services staff. The veteran was given resume development, partner agency referrals, and job leads that led to the veteran being hired as a Loader Operator with a starting pay of $23.00 per hour.
  • A low-income veteran who was at risk of becoming homeless received assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was provided partner referrals for resources, resume development, and direct job leads which helped the veteran gain employment as a Driver, for a large bus company with a starting pay of $16.50 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran was provided job searching support from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was assisted with a resume review, referral assistance, and job leads. The veteran was hired as a Case Manager with a starting wage of $24.00 per hour.
  • A veteran at risk of becoming homeless, referred under the HVRP program, worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services who provided resume updating, job leads, and other resources that led to the veteran gaining employment as a Meat Cutter earning $19.00 hourly.
  • A justice-involved and service-connected disabled veteran, who received several career services from the Office of Veteran Employment Services staff that included resume assistance, partner referrals, and job leads, led to the veteran being hired as a Warehouse Specialist working full-time with a starting wage of $18.50 per hour.
  • A transitioning service member was referred to the Office of Veteran Employment Services where they received relocation information, resume assistance, mock interviews, and direct job leads. The veteran was hired into a Production lead role with a starting wage of $23.00 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran was provided resume updating and direct job leads from the Office of Veteran Employment Services staff. The veteran was hired into a General Labor role with a starting wage of $14.00 per hour.
  • A low-income veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services who provided the veteran resume development, interviewing assistance, and direct job referrals. These efforts led to the veteran obtaining employment as a Production Assistant at a local food company with a starting wage of $17.50 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled who was homeless received assistance from the Office of Veterans Employment Services staff who provided individualized career services including one on one mentoring, resume development, coaching, and job leads. The veteran secured employment in the custodial industry earning $14.00 per hour.
  • A veteran at risk of becoming homeless worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services who provided the veteran resume development, job leads, and direct referrals. The veteran accepted a position as a Cable Installer with a salary of $47,840.00 per year.
  • A veteran recently separated from military service was provided individualized career services that included resume development, referral to partner services, and direct job leads. The veteran was thereafter able to secure a position as a Laborer with a salary of $27,040.00 per year.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was provided interview assistance, mock interviews, and partner referrals. The veteran accepted an administrative role with a federal employer, with a starting wage of $21.00 per hour.
  • A veteran who has been unemployed for more than 27 weeks and at risk of becoming homeless was guided through the employment search process with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was provided partner referrals, job searching assistance, labor market information, and resume assistance which led to them being hired as a Chief Lending Officer with a starting salary of $162,000.00 per year.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran was given several individualized career services by the Office of Veteran Employment Services staff that consisted of resume development, job searching assistance, and mock interviews that led to employment as a Security Guard with a starting pay of $23.41 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled and justice involved veteran received assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services that provided job leads, resume development, partner referrals, and interviewing assistance. The veteran was hired as a Laborer with a starting pay of $ 41,000.00
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services staff that helped navigate the veteran through resume development, partner referrals, mock interview assistance, and direct job leads. This assistance afforded the veteran to gain employment as a Clinical Administrator with a starting salary of $102,000 per year.
  • An at risk for homelessness veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was provided resume assistance and coaching on the interview process. The veteran overcame homelessness and accepted a fulltime job offer as an Ink Mixer with local firm, with a starting pay of $42,000.00 annually.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran, who was prior justice-involved, worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was provided resume assistance, partner referrals, and job leads. The veteran was hired as a Truck Driver, with a starting wage of $23.00 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, mock interviews, job leads and referrals. The veteran was hired as a Maintenance Tech, with a starting pay of $31.00 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran received career services from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development and direct job leads. Following an interview, the veteran was offered a position as a: Tribal Outreach Advocate, with a starting pay $18.50 an hour
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran recieved career services including resume development, interivewing, and job leads. The vetera was hired as an Cash Application Processor for a local medical company, with a starting pay of $21.00 an hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran and low-income veteran, worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, career planning, and job leads. The veteran accepted a position as a Laborer with a Hurricane Storm Clean-up Contractor, with a starting pay of $17,332.00 through February.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, partner referrals, mock interview assistance, and direct job leads. The veteran was hired as a Customer Service Rep for a Federal Agency, with a starting pay of $38,000.00 per year.
