Veteran Employment Success Stories

Every month the Office of Veteran Employment Services (OVES) will be sharing stories of individuals that have successfully found careers through our services. Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Representative (DVOP) provide the intensive services necessary to meet the employment needs of Veterans who are economically or educationally disadvantaged, disabled, homeless, or facing other significant barriers to employment. June 2021

  • A service-connected disabled veteran received services from the Office of Veteran Employment Services with resume assistance, direct referrals, social media, interview, and job offer techniques. The veteran was hired as Technical Support Specialist with a starting salary at $45,800 per year.
  • A homeless veteran was provided services from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. They received guidance on resume development and interviewing. The veteran accepted an offer as a Monitor with an annual salary of $35,360.00.
  • An at risk for homelessness veteran was provided resume assistance and coaching on the interview process from the Office of Veteran Employment Services staff. The veteran overcame at risk for homelessness and accepted a job offer on May 24, 2021 as Assembler earning $32,000.00 annually.
  • An at risk of being homeless veteran received Comprehensive assessment, and Individual Employment Plan and other assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services staff. The veteran received employment search assistance as well as housing via VPC. The veteran was offered a position as a house- keeper making $33,540.00 annually.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran began working with staff from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran worked on their targeted resume, interviewing skills, and job search skills. The veteran also worked with Office of Veteran Employment Services staff for potential education, and entrepreneurship benefits. The veteran found employment as a Production Supervisor earning an annual salary of $65,000.
  • A Low-income and service-connected disabled veteran worked with a Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialist (DVOP). The DVOP and veteran completed resume development for public and private sector finance careers and interviewing assistance. The veteran had three offers and accepted a position as a Finance Manager. The veteran will earn $62,890 per year, with full benefits.
  • A veteran who completed the VA Veteran Readiness & Employment /Chapter 31 program worked with staff from the Office of Veteran Employment Servcies for resume and application assistance. The veteran successfully found employment with a fiber optic repair company as an Apprentice Lineman with a starting wage of $20.00 an hour.
  • A low-income and at risk of being homeless veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services.The veteran received individualized career assistance with developing and targeting a resume, interviewing and job search skills. The veteran was co-enrolled with the HVRP program Garske's Veteran Services. The veteran was hired as a Clinic Technician with starting pay at $18.00 per hour plus benefits.
  • A service connected disabled veteran received assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was provided individualized career services including resume development, mock interviewing and job leads. The veteran was hired full time as a Ground Simulator Instructor making $95,000 per year.
  • An at risk for homelessness veteran was provided resume assistance and coaching on the interview process from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. Veteran overcame at risk for homelessness and accepted a fulltime job offer with benefits on June 1,2021 as an Information Technician with communications company earning $50,000.00 annually and paid relocation expenses.
  • A homeless veteran was provided resume assistance, connection to resources for housing and beneifts, and coaching on the interview process from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran overcame at risk for homelessness and accepted a job offer as a contracted Roofer earning $44,000.00 annually.
  • A homeless veteran was provided services by the Office of Veteran Employment Services. Veteran received resume development, comprehensive assessment and individual employment with job referrals. The veteran was hired as Home Improvement Specialist making $39,000.00 annually.
  • A Service Connected Low Income Veteran received services form the Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Represenative. Services included career guidance, resume development, professional social media assistance, and employer referral. The veteran secured a position as Client Services Rep with a starting wage of $42,500.00 annually with a minimum of a 4.5% raise annually.
  • A veteran of the Vietnam Era worked with the staff from the Office of Veteran Employment Services and received resume development, interviewing assistance and assistance finding and applying for jobs. Veteran accepted a position performing Building Maintenance earning $47,500 annually.
  • An at risk for homelessness veteran was provided resume assistance and coaching on the interview process from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. Veteran overcame at risk for homelessness and accepted a fulltime job offer with benefits on June 1,2021 as an Information Technician with communications company earning $50,000.00 annually and paid relocation expenses.
