Veteran Employment Success Stories

Every month the Office of Veteran Employment Services (OVES) will be sharing stories of individuals that have successfully found careers through our services. Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Representative (DVOP) provide the intensive services necessary to meet the employment needs of Veterans who are economically or educationally disadvantaged, disabled, homeless, or facing other significant barriers to employment. July 2022

  • A service-connected disabled veteran who was homeless worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services where they were able to receive resume development, job referrals, and partner connections for housing resources. The veteran was hired as a Maintenance Mechanic with a starting wage of $25.00 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services who provided the veteran resume development, interviewing preparation and job search assistance. The veteran accepted a position in the healthcare field out of state and will earn $25.00 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran received career assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services staff. The veteran received a number of services that consisted of resume development, job leads and direct referrals. The veteran was hired into a Mechanical Supervisor Role with a local Bio-Medical company with a starting wage of $35.00 per hour.
  • A veteran at risk of homelessness worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received housing and partner referrals, resume development and job leads. The veteran was hired as an Accounts Receivable Specialist with a starting pay of $47,500.00 per year and a full benefit package.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran received career services from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, job search assistance, and direct job referrals. The veteran was hired as a Systems and Server Administrator with a starting salary of $85k per year.
  • A veteran who was at risk of becoming homeless worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services who received VORP program and housing information referrals, resume development, and interviewing assistance. The veteran was hired into a state position as a Correctional Officer with a starting salary of $22.89 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran received resume assistance, interview prep, and letter of qualification creation assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services staff. The veteran was hired into a state position as a Teacher with a starting wage of $27.00 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran received assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services who provide the veteran numerous individualized career services. including resume development, coaching and job leads. The veteran was hired as an Inventory Control Clerk with a starting wage of $23.50 per hour.
  • A homeless veteran was provided resume assistance and coaching on the interview process from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran overcame homelessness and accepted a fulltime job offer as a Machine Operator and will earn $44,000.00 annually.
  • A veteran that was at risk of becoming homeless was provided resume assistance and coaching on the interview process from the local Office of Veteran Employment Services staff. The veteran overcame homelessness and accepted a fulltime job offer as a Production Specialist and will earn $31,000.00 annually.
  • A transitioning service member worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services staff who provided the veteran resume development, career guidance and job search assistance. The veteran was hired as a federal employee as Reservist Cadre with a starting salary of $49k per year.
  • A low-income and service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services where they received referrals to partner agencies, resume development, and job leads. The veteran was hired as an Adjunct Instructor with a local Technical College with a starting pay of $72,00.00 per year.
  • A transitioning service member directed by their command to contact an American Job Center, worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, and job leads. The veteran was hired as a Lead General Cleaner with a starting pay of $18.00 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services who received resume development, interviewing assistance, and job leads. The veteran was hired as a Welder with starting pay of $22.11 per hour.
  • A veteran recently separated from active duty and was at risk of becoming homeless worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services who provided the veteran resume development, partner referrals, and direct job leads. The veteran was referred to an employer and hired as a CNA. This is a full-time position with a starting pay of $17.00 per hour plus housing is provided by the employer.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran received assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was provided individualized career services including resume development, coaching and job leads. The veteran was hired as a CDL trainee with a starting wage of $20.16 per hour and an increase to $24.60 per hour upon completion of training.
  • A service-connected disabled and low-income veteran received assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was provided individualized career services including one on one mentoring, resume development, coaching and job leads. The veteran was hired as Program Supervisor earning $80,000 per year plus benefits.
  • A veteran at risk of becoming homeless was provided resume assistance and coaching on the interview process from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran overcame homelessness and accepted a fulltime job offer as a General Laborer and will earn $18.00 hourly beginning July 21,2022 with potential to earn $20.00 hourly after ninety days probation.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran was assisted with creating a resume, employment plans and job leads. The veteran was hired with a local company as a Shift Supervisor, with a starting pay of $21.00 per hour.
  • A low-income and VA service-connected pending claim veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development and job leads. The veteran accepted a position as a Maintenance Planner with a salary of $65,000.00 per year.
  • A low-income and unemployed for 27 plus weeks veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume assistance, job leads, and interviewing preparation among other career services. The veteran was hired as an Outside Sales Account Manager with a starting salary of $75,000 a year plus commission and mileage.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran received employment assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services that included resume development, job searching assistance, and interviewing techniques. The veteran interviewed and was hired as an Operations Manager with a starting pay of $47,500 per year.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran was provided resume development and direct job referrals from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was hired as a Project Manager with a starting salary of $26.95 an hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran who was at risk of becoming homeless was assisted with a comprehensive assessment, an Individual Employment Plan, provided job referrals, and other supportive services referrals and guidance on resume writing. The veteran accepted an offer as a Punch Press Operator, with a starting pay of $16.00 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran received resume development, interviewing assistance and direct job leads from a local DVOP in the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was hired as a Contract Sales Manager with a starting pay of $45,000 a year base plus commission.
  • A veteran at risk of becoming homeless was provided resume assistance and coaching on the interview process from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran overcame homelessness and accepted a fulltime job offer as a Sous Chef at a local hotel, and will earn $19.95 hourly with potential to earn $21.95 hourly in shift differential
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services and received several career services, including resume development, job leads, and interview assistance. The veteran was thereafter able to secure a position as a Quality Engineer with a salary of $70,000.00 per year with full benefit package.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resumed development, interview training, and job leads. The veteran was hired as a Category Manager with a salary of $35,000.00 per year plus commission.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran was provided career planning services by the Office of Veteran Employment Services that led to the veteran securing a position as a Sales Operations and Pricing Manager with a starting salary of $110,000.00.
  • A Vietnam Era veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, job leads, and job searching assistance. The veteran was hired as a Shuttle Driver with a starting wage of $10.00 per hour plus tips.
  • A low-income veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services staff who provided career services that comprised of resume development, job searching assistance, and referral to partner resources. The veteran was hired as Retail Supervisor with a starting salary of $52,467.00 a year.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran received resume assistance and job referrals from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was hired as a Commercial Sales Manager with a starting pay of $23.85 per hour.
  • A service-connected disabled veteran was provided resume assistance including creation of a federal resume from the staff of the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran applied for federal jobs and was hired as a Dietary Technician with a starting pay of $22.37 per hour.
