Veteran Employment Success Stories

Every month the Office of Veteran Employment Services (OVES) will be sharing stories of individuals that have successfully found careers through our services. Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Representative (DVOP) provide the intensive services necessary to meet the employment needs of Veterans who are economically or educationally disadvantaged, disabled, homeless, or facing other significant barriers to employment. August 2022

  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was provided resume assistance, partner referrals, and job leads and was hired as a Security Guard at a local Airport with a starting wage of $16.75 per hour
  • A Vietnam Era veteran received career assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services who assisted the veteran with resume development, as well as cover letter assistance and job leads. The veteran was hired into a consulting role as a contractor for an International Assistance Program with a starting pay of $75,000.00 per year
  • A veteran who completed the VA Chapter 31/Veteran Readiness and Employment Program worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services who provided resume development and interviewing assistance. The veteran was hired into a Mental Health Provider role with a starting pay of $35.00 per hour
  • A service-connected disabled veteran was assisted by the Office of Veteran Employment Services who provided resume assistance, interview recommendations and job referrals. The veteran is working a full-time position earning $60,000 as a Dump Truck Driver
  • A veteran who was at risk of becoming homeless was provided assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was given numerous job leads and direct job referrals. The veteran was hired as an Employment Specialist with a local outreach provider with a starting pay of $19.00 per hour
  • A service-connected disabled veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services where they were dually enrolled with other partner services. The veteran received resume development and interviewing techniques and was hired as a Data Entry Specialist with a starting pay of $18.50 per hour
  • A Vietnam Era veteran received numerous individualized career services to include resume development and job leads from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran interviewed and was hired as a cashier with a starting wage of $14.50 per hour
  • An at risk for homelessness veteran was provided resume assistance and coaching on the interview process from the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran overcame homelessness and accepted a fulltime job offer as a Bath Technician Specialist with a starting salary of $44,000.00 annually
  • A homeless veteran was provided individualized career services by the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, a comprehensive assessment, and an individual employment plan with job referrals. The veteran was hired as a Facility Maintenance Specialist earning $36,000.00 annually
  • A service-connected disabled veteran was assisted by the Office of Veteran Employment Services staff who received resume assistance, interview recommendations, and job referrals. The veteran is working for a large box retailer earning $33,280 annually
  • A service-connected disabled veteran received career assistance from staff in the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran was provided resume assistance, partner referrals, and education information. The veteran was hired to a full-time position with a starting salary of $23.00 per hour
  • A low-income veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received career guidance, budget assistance, and direct job referrals. The veteran interviewed and was hired into the legal field with a starting salary of $75,000 per year
  • A service-connected disabled veteran received career services from a Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Specialist. The veteran received resume updating and job leads and was offered a position as a Forklift Driver with a starting pay of $17.00 per hour
  • A service-connected disabled veteran received career services from a Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Specialist who provided resume and interviewing assistance. The veteran was offered a position as a Warehouse Worker with a starting salary of $14.00 per hour
  • A service-connected disabled veteran who completed the VA Veteran Readiness and Employment program worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume updating, job searching assistance and partner referrals. The veteran was hired by a local Technical College with a starting salary of $18.00 per hour
  • A service-connected disabled veteran received numerous employment services from the Office of Veteran Employment Services that included interviewing assistance and resume review. The veteran was hired into a Sales Analyst role with a starting wage of $50,000 per year
  • A low-income and at risk of homelessness veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, job referrals, and connections to partner resources. The veteran was hired as a Warehouse Operator with a starting pay of $23.17 per hour
  • A homeless veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, a comprehensive assessment, referrals to partners agencies, and several job leads. The veteran was hired as a Machine Operator earning $44,000.00 a year
  • A veteran at risk of becoming homeless was provided employment assistance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services where the veteran received resume development, interview preparation, and housing assistance. The veteran was hired as a Truck Driver with a starting salary of $40,000.00 a year
  • A homeless veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, job leads and assistance with housing and was subsequently hired as an Inventory Specialist with a starting salary of $34,000.00 per year
  • A low-income and justice involved veteran received resume development, interviewing assistance and direct job leads from a local Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Specialist which led to the gaining employment as a Food Service Crew Member with a starting pay of $14.00 an hour with an opportunity as a Delivery Driver for an extra $5.00 per hour
  • A service-connected disabled veteran was provided employment guidance from the Office of Veteran Employment Services staff. The veteran received resume assistance and interviewing tips that led the veteran to find employment as a General Manager of a Sports Store with starting pay of $26.92 per hour
  • A low-income and at risk of homelessness veteran worked with the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, job search assistance, and referrals to supportive services. The veteran was hired as a Food Production Worker with a starting salary of $21.79 per hour
  • A service-connected disabled veteran was guided through the employment process by the Office of Veteran Employment Services. The veteran received resume development, interviewing techniques, and job leads. The veteran sought and accepted part-time employment while utilizing VA service-connected benefits. The veteran was hired as a CDL Truck Driver with a starting salary of $80,000.00 per year
