File an Equal Rights Division complaint

The Equal Rights Division now offers online filing for labor standards complaints and some civil rights complaints, including unpaid wages, personnel records, discrimination in employment and housing, and family and medical leave complaints.

Follow the instructions below to file your complaint.

1. Create your DWD ID.

   Enter your information, create a username and password, and click next. If you have previously created a DWD ID to work with another division, such as the Unemployment Insurance Division, you may skip to step 3.

   

2. Confirm your email.

   Once you have created your DWD ID, you will receive a confirmation email from the DWD Wisconsin Logon Management System. Use the link provided within that email to confirm your account.

   

3. File your complaint.

   Once you have confirmed your account, you may file a complaint. Select one of the four options below to begin the complaint process. You will be asked to login using your DWD ID.

   Labor Standards/Wage and Hour

   Appropriate for:

   • child labor, wage payment, hours of work & overtime etc...
   • visit the labor standards page

   Discrimination in Employment

   Appropriate for:

   • discrimination in the workplace of a protected class
   • visit the employment discrimination page

   ---

   Discrimination in Housing

   Appropriate for:

   • discrimination in housing of a protected class
   • visit the housing discrimination page

   Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

   Appropriate for:

   • health-related leave, birth or adoption of child
   • visit the family and medical leave act page

   Note: Filing a complaint using the wrong complaint form can delay the acceptance date with our office. Contact our office if you are uncertain which form to use.

For technical assistance, or if you have difficulty creating a DWD ID, contact the Information Technology Solution Center (ITSC) for assistance by calling 608-266-7252. The ITSC has technicians available from 6 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

If you have not received your confirmation email, please check your SPAM folder before contacting ITSC.

If you are unable to file electronically you may print, fill out (including your signature) and mail your paper Labor Standards or Civil Rights complaint. Contact our office if you are uncertain which form to use.
