DWD Announces the Recipient of the Wisconsin Fast Forward Grant for Small Businesses

Grant will support skills development and customized training for Wisconsin workers

MADISON – The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) has awarded the Wisconsin Fast Forward Worker Training Grant for Small Businesses to James Electrical Contractors, a locally owned and operated electrical contractor priding itself on a reputation for quality workmanship.

A total of $42,450 was awarded to James Electrical Contractors, which will serve at least 13 trainees.

"We want to provide fertile ground for small businesses and entrepreneurs in Wisconsin," said DWD Secretary Caleb Frostman. "This grant will improve the economic trajectory of the small business owner, the participating trainees and their local economy."

James Electrical Contractors will partner with Milwaukee Area Technical College to administer training to five unemployed and eight incumbent existing workers. The curriculum will consist of in-house instruction with the Residential Construction Certificate program at MATC, as well as training by Arnold Inspection.

The Wisconsin Fast Forward program encourages increased collaboration between Wisconsin’s workforce trainers and employers to develop and execute business-led training programs. These training programs are designed to provide sustainable, short- and medium-term training and placement of workers in positions that offer trainees long-term professional growth and economic opportunity.
