DWD, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Partner to Launch Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program In Wisconsin

Milwaukee – The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) is partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to bring their successful Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program to Wisconsin. Wisconsin businesses are invited to attend a free information session on Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center to learn how the program helps employers create a corporate talent pipeline with high-ranking, professional military veterans.

"Our growing economy, high quality of life and enhanced GI benefits make Wisconsin an excellent place for military professionals to launch their civilian career," said DWD Secretary Ray Allen. "We are honored to partner with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to launch the Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program in our state, providing businesses with another effective solution for onboarding top veteran talent."

The Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program matches transitioning service members with management-level or equivalent civilian careers prior to their separation from the military. The 12-week program provides opportunities for hands-on corporate training, mentoring and earning certifications while helping employers tap into a highly qualified talent pool.

DWD is sponsoring the information session in collaboration with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs. The event opens at 11 a.m. The program will be held from noon to 2 p.m. with time immediately following to answer employer questions. Lunch will be provided.

Interested Wisconsin businesses must register online by 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 5 at: HiringOurHeroesInformation.eventbrite.com

The Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program is a nationwide initiative to help veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses find meaningful employment opportunities. The program has graduated nearly 800 military veterans across the country and has many nationally recognized participating businesses, including Boeing, Prudential, Starbucks and more.
