Milwaukee Career Expo & Wisconn Valley Construction Resource Fair This Thursday

MADISON – Job seekers and other interested members of the public are encouraged to visit State Fair Park on Thursday, May 3 for the 2018 Milwaukee Career Expo and Wisconn Valley Construction Resource Fair. The event will feature 150 employers with nearly 3,500 jobs and approximately 50 vendors to help individuals explore careers in Wisconsin's construction industry.

"I encourage anyone with interest in finding a new job or career to obtain their free admission ticket for the Milwaukee Career Expo and Wisconsin Valley Construction Resource Fair this Thursday at State Fair Park," Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Secretary Ray Allen said. "The event provides access to hundreds of hiring managers from top companies with thousands of good-paying job openings in high-demand fields, as well as the necessary construction resources to explore careers and learn about education and training options in one of the region's fastest growing industries."

Briggs & Stratton, FedEx Ground, Froedtert Health, Go Riteway Transportation Group, Kohl's Corporation, Marcus Hotels & Resorts, Michels Corporation, Spectrum Communications and Wolf Paving are among the businesses already registered for the expo.

Additionally, Wisconn Valley Construction Resource Fair vendors represent businesses, trade associations, non-profit organizations, education and training providers and state and local government agencies, including M + W | Gilbane, GESTRA Engineering, Hoffman Construction Company, Roofers & Waterproofers Local 65, Steamfitters Local 601, and David J. Frank Landscape Contracting, Inc. In addition, both of these hourlong construction workshops will be offered at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to help individuals learn more about industry skills training options:

The Milwaukee Career Expo and Wisconn Valley Construction Resource Fair is open from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The first 30 minutes of the event will be limited to U.S. military veterans who are seeking employment. The general public will be admitted at 11 a.m. Visit the Wisconsin Career Expo - Job Seeker Information page by Wednesday, May 2 to obtain a free admission ticket or take steps to register at the event.

The Milwaukee Career Expo is the region's premiere hiring event coordinated in partnership between DWD and Employ Milwaukee. The Wisconn Valley Construction Resource Fair is made possible through collaborations between DWD and the state Departments of Transportation and Administration, along with Employ Milwaukee and the city and county of Milwaukee.
