Up to $1 Million in Wisconsin Fast Forward Grants Help Wisconsin Technical Colleges Train and Certify High School Students

Madison – The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announces up to $1 million in grants to Wisconsin technical colleges to train and certify Wisconsin high school students in high-demand fields through Governor Walker's recently expanded Wisconsin Fast Forward (WFF) program.

The new Grant Program Announcement (GPA) encourages collaborations between technical colleges, school districts, employers and other local partners to provide sophomores, juniors and seniors who are enrolled in Wisconsin high schools with market relevant workplace readiness and technical skills, leading to industry-recognized certifications in a high demand field. Approved training must be selected from the CTE Incentive Grants Certifications List.

The grants are intended to reimburse technical colleges for grant project activities, such as student recruitment and enrollment, instruction and instructional materials, certification testing costs and more. Details follow:

High School Student Certifications Grant Program Announcement (GPA):

Technical college grantees are required to provide matching funds equal to 50 percent of the grant award, including any combination of cash and/or in-kind sources from project partners for eligible expenses that are necessary and reasonable to operate the program.

Under Governor Walker's leadership, Wisconsin has invested over $200 million over the past four years and over $140 million in the current biennial budget to support workforce development, including funding to expand WFF program to support the development of innovative training solutions to meet regional workforce demands.
