Automated Clearing House (ACH) Debit payments from your bank account can be used to pay Unemployment Insurance (UI) taxes. There is no additional service fee when making this kind of payment.
To make a payment:
ACH debit allows you to pay your Unemployment Insurance (UI) taxes online by instructing the State to electronically debit your bank account for a specific amount on a specific day. There is no cost to the taxpayer for this type of payment transaction.
In order to make ACH debit payments you must have access online to your UI account. If you are already filing your UI tax report online, you already have access to your UI account and can make ACH debit payments immediately.
If you do not have online access to your UI account and want to make ACH debit payments, you will need an access code mailed to you. Access codes can be obtained by going to our website at https://dwd.wisconsin.gov/uitax and selecting the link, "Request Online Access to Your Account". Users will be required to create a username and password. Once the username and password are created, the user will enter either their 10-digit UI Account Number or their FEIN number. For security purposes, the access code along with instructions on how to obtain online access are mailed to the employer's main business mailing address.
Please make sure to have your bank routing and account number handy to complete the ACH account set up process. Once you complete the ACH account set up process, you can immediately begin to make payments electronically.
You can access the ACH payment site after you login in to your UI account directly from your Employer Home page or from the Filing Confirmation page after you complete the filing of your UI tax report online using the File Tax and Wage Reports System.
Many businesses have their financial institution block ACH debits on their bank account to prevent unauthorized ACH debit payments from being deducted. If you want to make UI ACH debit payments from your bank account and you utilize this security feature, you will need to make sure that your financial institution will allow the UI payment you schedule to be deducted from your bank account. Your financial institution may ask you for UI’s Company Identification number and Company Name. The Company Identification number is 1369006449 and the Company Name is Wisconsin UI Tax. Please provide this information to your financial institution if you have debit filter block on your bank account and wish to make UI payments electronically.
