Digital version of 600-page digest offers keyword search, bookmarking functions and other features
MADISON – The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) has published the 2023 Equal Rights Decision Digest online with updated case law and new search features to ease navigation through the more than 600-page publication. The digest provides summaries of significant case decisions affecting all programs administered by DWD's Equal Rights Division.
"We are pleased to make this important reference publication fully available online for the first time so that legal practitioners, human resource professionals and other members of the public can search through and find the information they need in a quick and efficient manner," DWD Secretary-designee Amy Pechacek said. "This is one more example of our agency's ongoing efforts to strengthen customer service and make our tools and resources more accessible to everyone."
Previous editions of the Equal Rights Decision Digest were available for purchase in print form only as a standard reference publication. The 2023 edition includes decisions through January 2023 with recent cases linked to case decisions for greater detail. Online users can search the publication by word, phrase, or number. Content is bookmarked for easy searchability and fully accessible with screen reader and Google Translate.
For many Wisconsin attorneys, law students, and human resources professionals, the DWD Equal Rights Decision Digest is a vital resource offering insight into the state's most notable case law. The publication includes significant decisions issued by the Wisconsin Equal Rights Division, the state Labor and Industry Review Commission, the former Wisconsin Personnel Commission, and Wisconsin courts. The decisions span the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, Open Housing Law, Wisconsin Family and Medical Leave Act, and other laws within the program responsibilities of the Wisconsin Equal Rights Division.
Legal practitioners may view, download, and print the 2023 Equal Rights Decision Digest from the DWD Equal Rights' Decision Digest webpage. Bound paper-back copies of the digest are still available for purchase from Document Sales online, by searching with the keyword "digest."
“The Equal Rights Division is dedicated to ensuring that Wisconsin workers are treated fairly under Wisconsin anti-discrimination laws, and that Wisconsin employers know what is required of them under the law," Equal Rights Division Administrator Ramona L. Natera said. "The recently updated Equal Rights Decision Digest contributes greatly to this effort with up-to-date and easily accessible case law to assist users in decision-making and litigation."
