Employers with 50 or more employees in Wisconsin must provide 60 days' written notice to all current employees, retirees, and dependents of employees or retirees if they plan to discontinue health care benefits.
If you are an employer with 50 or more employees in Wisconsin, you must provide advance written notice of your intention to discontinue providing health care benefits to your employees, retirees, or their dependents.
Under the law, all affected employees must receive written notice at least 60 days before their health care benefits end. This applies to all employees, retirees, and their dependents, who are currently covered by the health care plan. It is important to note that you must also provide written notice to any union representing your employees.
If we receive a complaint that you failed to provide your employees, retirees, dependents, or unions with 60 day's written notice before ending health care benefits, we will investigate the claim. If we determine that you violated the law, we may require you to pay your employee:
If you employ 50 or more people in the State of Wisconsin, you are required to post the Cessation of Health Care Benefits poster in one or more conspicuous places where notices to employees are customarily posted. Failure to comply with workplace poster requirements may result in fines and penalties.
