ASHWAUBENON – Hundreds of job seekers connected with 150 employers looking to fill more than 3,100 job openings at the Northeast Wisconsin Career Expo today at Shopko Hall in Ashwaubenon.
Formerly called the Bay Area Career Expo, the Northeast Wisconsin Career Expo was open only to employers with current job openings and job seekers who are ready to work, providing both parties with opportunities to connect face-to-face and hold in-person discussions about opportunities available.
"DWD was honored to help connect so many area employers and job seekers at the Northeast Wisconsin Career Expo," said DWD Secretary Ray Allen. "Hundreds of quality, work-ready job candidates came prepared and met hiring managers in an effort to find a job or start a new career."
Registered businesses include: Algoma Medical Center, Ariens Company, DePere Foundry, Kohler Company, Pierce Manufacturing, Sargento Foods, Schneider, Thrivent Financial, UnitedHealth Group and West Corporation. Good-paying entry level through advanced job openings are available in manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, customer service, sales and many other industries and occupations, some paying more than $30 an hour.
"The Northeast Wisconsin Career Expo is so important right now because the job market is so tight," shared DePere Foundry Human Resources Director Doreen Voight. "This event exposes us to potential candidates who we may not have connected with through other channels."
Participating employers expressed intent to pursue candidates they met at the Expo, including mention of onsite hiring.
