BLS Data: Wisconsin Sees Significant Increase in Total Nonfarm Jobs in July

MADISON – Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Secretary Ray Allen released the following statement in response to new U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) preliminary data showing Wisconsin's monthly and annual total nonfarm job growth was statistically significant in July.

"Today's report shows that Wisconsin's gains of 9,100 total non-farm jobs over the month and 47,400 non-farm jobs over the year were both significant," Secretary Allen said. "The report also showed that Wisconsin's unemployment rate of 4.2 percent, its lowest point in 15 years, is significantly below the nation. Additionally, Wisconsin's labor force participation rate was seventh highest in the country. Under Governor Walker, Wisconsin continues to see a strong labor market in 2016.
