BLS Data: Wisconsin Ranks 5th in the Nation in Number of Manufacturing Jobs Added Over Year

Wisconsin also ranks second in Midwest in total number of private sector jobs gained in June 2016

MADISON – Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Secretary Ray Allen released the following statement in response to the recent U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) preliminary data showing Wisconsin ranked second in the Midwest for rate of private sector jobs added in June 2016 and ranked fifth in the nation in the number of manufacturing jobs added from June 2015 through June 2016.

"Under Governor Walker's leadership and pro-growth agenda, Wisconsin ranks among the top states in creating private sector jobs and our state's key manufacturing sector continues to grow and provide family supporting jobs as well," Secretary Allen said. "As demonstrated by the state's statistically significant job growth year over year, employers are hiring and expanding right here in Wisconsin."
