Responsibilities include the development and implementation of a comprehensive statewide workplace risk management and safety program
MADISON – The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) recently hired Virginia Hartt to the position of Safety and Risk Manager in the Worker's Compensation Division. The position will provide assistance to employers in order to maintain safe workplaces, provide education to insurers and employers regarding the importance of workplace safety through targeted outreach, and improve networking and program oversight to further promote safe workplaces.
"Wisconsin's Worker's Compensation program already features a fast return to work rate and a heavy emphasis on safety in the workplace," DWD Secretary Ray Allen said. "We are excited to have Virginia join our DWD team and work directly with employers to further improve workplace safety and protect their workers from potential workplace injury."
Virginia brings over 15 years of experience in coordinating safety programs for multiple employers throughout Wisconsin. Her most recent position was Southern Wisconsin and Minnesota Area Safety Manager for Advanced Disposal Services. In that position she oversaw 22 sites, providing safety training for employees and managers. She also analyzed accident reports for trends, conducted accident investigations and monitored Department of Transportation and Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations for all 22 sites under her direction.
