WISCONSIN DELLS –Today, Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Secretary Ray Allen met with approximately 45 students from Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) who traveled to the Wisconsin Dells Regional Job Fair at the Great Wolf Lodge in the Wisconsin Dells.
"Today was a great opportunity for anyone looking for employment opportunities, and we are pleased to be the lead organizer of this event through our Sauk County Job Center in Baraboo," Secretary Ray Allen said. "The Wisconsin Dells Regional Job Fair allowed job seekers of all ages, including dozens of students from Milwaukee Public Schools, to meet with employers in a vital and vibrant part of the state and explore summer job opportunities that can provide a steady paycheck, employment experience and skills training."
MPS's participation in this event followed the suggestion of Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, who saw an opportunity to connect Milwaukee students with employers facing significant hiring needs for summer openings, and encouraged Secretary Allen earlier this year to discuss potential collaborations with MPS Superintendent Dr. Darienne Driver and Romy Snyder, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Dells Visitor & Convention Bureau.
The Sauk County Job Center sponsored the event, which kicked off at 1 p.m. and featured openings in areas such as customer service, hospitality, construction, food service, health care and manufacturing.
