Accounting Assistant
Mid-State Technical College
The Accounting Assistant program at Mid-State is ideal for students with strong logic and attention to detail. The program develops financial and managerial accounting skills and an understanding of financial reporting. Students also learn critical aspects of budgeting and technology as well as communication skills to be successful in their role. Students in the program will develop the skills needed to record, post, and reconcile accounting data in the areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales, purchasing, budgeting, and payroll. They will also learn to summarize and report financial information, and provide support within the financial functions of an organization. Students also gain basic tax preparation skills. Mid-State aims to offer several approaches to tutoring to ensure that students have options that fit their learning needs including lab-based, one-one-one, group, and online. Tutoring services are no cost to currently enrolled students.

Refunds are issued per the official refund schedule available at any Student Services Information Center. Refund amounts are determined by the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) Refund Policy and federal financial aid regulations. Refunds will be issued to the student unless a documented third party sponsorship or contract exists. In such cases the refund will be returned to the sponsor or contracting party.

PLEASE NOTE:

Most employers are required to report certain employment information to the State of Wisconsin, including quarterly wage information for their employees. MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
