There's a high demand for professional truck drivers, and this program will help you earn your Class B commercial driver's license. You'll learn to operate various types of vehicles such as van body, stake body and dump body delivery trucks. As a professional truck driver, you are responsible for the safe, efficient delivery of goods between locations. You'll have lots of time behind the wheel learning how to maneuver trucks into tight parking spaces, through narrow alleys and up to loading platforms. You'll develop backing and driving skills through classroom, lab, range and roadway experiences. Communications with fellow drivers, dispatchers, shippers, mechanics and law enforcement personnel will also be covered. In addition, you'll learn how to complete the necessary paperwork and appropriate inspections. To register for Truck Driving courses, you must possess a valid driver's license for at least one year, pass a DOT physical examination and pass the testing to obtain a Commercial Learner Permit from the DMV. You must also pass a drug test on the first day of class Students are required to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries and make entries on reports and records. A Reading assessment is required for this program or the following: High School GPA of 2.75 or higher (last 10 years) OR provide completion of associate or higher degree OR 165 or higher on your 2014 series GED tests OR ACT (14 Reading) OR Accuplacer (41 Reading) (within last 3 years) OR Next Generation Accuplacer (237 Reading) (within last 3 years). If you do not meet one of these requirements, you’ll be required to take the TABE assessment. Refer to the guide above

Refunds are processed according to the WTCS refund policy. Wisconsin Technical College 10.08, Wisconsin Administrative Code, establishes the requirements for district policies and procedures related to student fee refunds. Refunds are applicable only from the date the student officially drops the class through Enrollment Services or online. FVTC will not drop any classes for students for nonpayment or for failure to attend any portion of the class. All references to student fees mean applicable
