Dental hygienists work under the supervision of dentists and perform such duties as teeth cleaning, fluoride treatments, x-ray and dental health counseling. Clinical experience is acquired in MATC s dental hygiene clinic and several external sites. After graduation, you will be eligible to complete the National Board of Dental Hygiene examination, and state or regional practical examinations. The following are also required for admission: A high school diploma or GED One year of high school-level biology and chemistry Required Natural Science (NATSCI) courses must be completed with a grade of B- or higher in each course.

MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
