Initial Claims for unemployment insurance decreased by 6,766 to a total of 29,151 for the week ending January 3 (week 01). Last week Initial Claims totaled 35,917. One year ago Initial Claims amounted to 20,293.

Continued Claims

Continued Claims for unemployment insurance increased by 35,667 to a total of 164,911 for the week ending January 3 (week 01). Last week Continued Claims totaled 129,244. One year ago Continued Claims amounted to 118,004.

*Due to the requirements of the emergency unemployment compensation program currently in effect, the data contained in this report represent preliminary values for initial and continued claims.
