Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) Reauthorization
Description: Serves dislocated workers that are determined eligible due to job loss resulting in shifts of production of jobs to other countries, or job loss due to increased imports. The new law expands the potential group of workers who could apply for TAA benefits, including those in the service industry. There are significant benefits through this program, including retraining, relocation, job search assistance, Alternative Trade Adjustment Assistance (ATAA), Health Care Tax Credit (HCTC), etc. Through this program, eligible participants in retraining qualify for income supports known as extended Trade Readjustment Allowances (TRA), when their State benefits run out.
Funding Mechanism: Funds are allocated to State based on formula.
