Independent Living Centers Grants
Description: Provides funding to consumer-directed,
non-profit organizations to provide four core services: peer
support, information and referral, independent living skills
training and person and systems advocacy. Some centers provide
additional services such as community education, training
on the Americans with Disabilities Act, personal care and
service coordination.
Funding Mechanism: Formula grants to independent
living centers.

REHABILITATION SERVICES - INDEPENDENT LIVING
State Grants
Description: Provides grant funds to the
State Independent Living Council of Wisconsin (ILC-W) to expand
and support existing Independent Living Services within the
state. Title VII Chapter 1 Part B - Independent Living State
Grants Program. The federal funds will be used by the Wisconsin
State Independent Living Council for services identified in
the RSA approved state plan for independent living (SPIL).
There is a 10% match requirement in order to draw these additional
federal funds. (Title IV of WIA; The Rehabilitation Act; Title
VII Chapter 1 Part B).
Funding Mechanism: Funds to be contracted
to the ILC-W, are distributed to state vocational rehabilitation
agencies on a formula based upon population.

Services for Older Blind Individuals
Description: Provides funding to serve older
people who have become blind, to enable them to live independently
with this new disability, preventing out-of-home placements.
Funding Mechanism: Formula grants to states. The funding is
passed from the Department of Workforce Development to DHS
Office for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
