WIA State Plan Modification Addendum now available

The WIA State Plan Modification (PDF file, 196 pages.) was submitted to the Department of Labor April 30th. The plan has been modified in response to the federal Department of Labor's directive to update the State Plan to reflect years three and four of the current five-year planning cycle.

Secretary Gassman Announces Availability of $850,000 in Grants for Emerging Industries Skills Partnership

Department of Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman has announced the availability of $850,000 in grants to fund the Emerging Industries Skills Partnership Project – a key component of Governor Jim Doyle’s Jobs for the Future Initiative. Jobs for the Future builds partnerships between business and schools to train current and future workers for the high-tech job market.

The project will offer grants to businesses, industry associations and technical colleges to train thousands of workers in emerging fields such as biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, stem cell research, and renewable energy.
