Department
Mission
To provide a system of employment-focused
programs and services that enable individuals and employers to fully participate in
Wisconsin's economy.
GOAL
To strengthen Wisconsin's workforce by
establishing partnerships with employers and other state agencies and to serve all people
looking for employment efficiently and effectively by providing information, education and
services on demand.
A LOOK INSIDE THE DEPARTMENT OF
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
The department, more commonly know as DWD, oversees a wide variety of programs aimed at
providing job training, assistance in gaining employment, the collection of child support,
and protection for workers if they are laid off, discriminated against or fired
inappropriately.
These responsibilities are carried out
through many innovative programs, which help build and strengthen the Wisconsin workforce
each and every day.
One of the most popular features of the
DWD is the 72 job centers across the state that include information on job openings,
resume writing techniques, and how to secure a job with local and state government. These
one-stop centers are accessible and at the service of youth, adults, and the elderly,
disabled and veteran populations in every corner of Wisconsin.
